Premium Felting Needles
OPTION A contents:
Blue / Thick / 9 cm Needle
US/Standard Gauge: 36 Gauge
How it fits: The longest needles in standard kits (9 cm / 3.5 inches) are made thicker so they do not snap when pushed deeply into fresh, loose wool. These are categorized as your structural starter needles.
Best used for: Initial core shaping and fast wool compacting.
Green / Medium Thick / 8.6 cm Needle
US/Standard Gauge: 38 Gauge
How it fits: Measuring roughly 8.6 cm, this slightly shorter, medium-weight needle is the universal workhorse size. It offers a middle-ground resistance between bulk shaping and surface refining.
Best used for: General sculpting, joining parts together, and firming up the shape.
OPTION B contents
Brown / Star / 8 cm Needle / 38 gauge
Standard felting needles have a triangular cross-section with barbs on three sides. A star needle has four sides shaped like a 4-pointed cross.
More Barbs: Because it has four distinct edges instead of three, it holds more notches/barbs (usually 8 total—2 per side).
Faster Felting: It grabs and locks down vastly more wool fiber with every single poke.
Cleaner Surface: It distributes fiber compaction across four points rather than three, which helps firmly condense loose wool without leaving deep, gaping puncture holes on your project.
Yellow / Fine / 7.9 cm Needle
US/Standard Gauge: 40 Gauge (or 42 Gauge)
How it fits: The shortest needles in a pack (around 7.9 cm / 3 inches) are
intentionally engineered thinner. A shorter shaft prevents the incredibly thin, fragile metal from flexing and breaking when working on dense, pre-hardened felt surfaces.
Best used for: Surface smoothing, removing poke marks, and adding fine detail lines.
